Pushpamala N

Born in 1956

Pushpamala N, born in 1956, Bangalore. With a prior degree in economics, she trained under noted sculptor, Balan Nambiar and went onto receive formal art education in Sculpture from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda.

A multifaceted artist, she worked as sculptor and shifted to work with Photo and Video performance as her primary practice. She writes on art, curates and collaborates with writers, theatre artistes, filmmakers to engage in a cultural, intellectual discourse and dialogue. As a conceptual artist, she has worked on range of themes drawn from mythology, culture, historical and social aspects that critiques the notion of today’s society.

She lives and works in Bangalore.
