Paresh Maity, born in 1965, Tamluk, West Bengal. He obtained his art education from Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkota and College of Art, New Delhi.

A multifaceted artist whose practice range from drawings, watercolours, oil and mixed media paintings, sculpture, installations, photography and film making. He draws his source of ideas from his keen observation of life around him, from his travels to various places, its culture, people and the abundance of nature in the surroundings. Having travelled widely around the world, he never misses to capture the nature around him through his Drawings and Watercolour & Landscape paintings.

He has the credit of having held about more than eighty solo exhibitions organised in India and all over the world includes Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, France, United Kingdom and United States of America and many more. He has been part of many prestigious group exhibitions and several Art fairs held both in India and abroad.

Paresh has been honoured with several awards and some of the prestigious include the Eastern Eye Editor’s Special Award for the contribution in the field of art in Royal Festival Hall, London, 2016; Padma Shri, awarded by the Government of India, New Delhi, 2014; Cartier Award, St.Moritz Art Masters, Switzerland, 2014; Sera Bengali Award by Anand Bazar Patrika, Kolkata, 2013; Royal Watercolour Society, London, 2002; British Council Visitorship, 1993; All India Fine Arts and Craft Society Award for 62nd All India Art Exhibition, New Delhi, 1990; National Scholarship Award, Government of India, 1989; Governor’s Gold Medal from Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, 1988; Jamini Roy Birth Centenary Celebration Award, 1987; Gold Medal, U.S.S.R., 1983.

His works are in the several collections of India and abroad, some significant ones include Steller International Art Foundation and London British Museum, London; Rubin Museum of Art, New York; Commonwealth Development Corporation, London; National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata; Tata Iron & Steel Co. Ltd and T-3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and in many private collections.
