No Longer A Memory

No Longer A MemoryCop Shiva

At Art Mumbai, Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore, presents a compelling booth that traverses the diverse terrains of contemporary South Asian art, uniting distinct yet resonant voices across painting, photography, drawing, and sculpture. The presentation brings together the intricate, culturally layered paintings and sculptures of Tsherin Sherpa, the introspective and experimental canvases of Lakshya Bhargava, and the autobiographical works of Aishwaryan K. Cop Shiva and Pushpamala both present photographic prints. Shiva captures emotionally charged archives of memory while Pushpamala uses photography, and performance art reinterpreting historical and mythical narratives from a feminist perspective. Laxma Goud’s masterful drawings anchor the presentation in a lyrical exploration of rural sensuality and form. Sculptural works by Pushpamala N, Gopinath S, Shanthamani M, Surekha and Venkat Bothsa expand the spatial and material vocabulary of the booth—ranging from performative self-reflection to meditations on transformation and urban memory. Together, these artists articulate Gallery Sumukha’s enduring commitment to a plural, evolving aesthetic language that bridges tradition and contemporaneity within the South Asian art landscape.
