Tanya Mehta, born in 1988, Mumbai. She has completed her post-graduation in Photography (The Image and Electronics Arts) from Goldsmiths, London.
Tanya Mehta is a new media artist, works with new mixed media, photographing everyday objects and turning them into alternate realities through collage and digital painting. Her production sees her working closely with fine art printmaking and experimenting with various modern technologies – such as lenticular prints and animated light boxes – to add movement, depth and an all-round dynamism. She explores the gaps between our different constructions of knowledge – philosophy, art, science, the metaphysical – and finds, in those gaps, bridges. She hopes to take the audience over those bridges to move to the singular reality or truth that exists for all of us. The key is the imagination.
She had her solo exhibitions *The Unity of Opposites*, Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore, 2017; *A Vision Beyond the Cave*, at Lalit Kala Akademi, Chennai by Gallery Sumukha, 2016; and Rukshaan Art, Mumbai, Gallery 545, Bangalore.
She has been part of several group exhibitions held nationally and internationally. Her works have featured in India Art Fair, presented by Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi; Target Art Gallery, Washington DC, USA; Shoreditch Town Hall, London; The Goldsmiths NAB Space, London; *Traversing into Insights*, 2020, *Silent Conversations*, 2015, by Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore. Her work and ideology have also been published in the art journal The Fuchsia Tree and she is part of The Art Place collection.
She lives and works in Bangalore.
