Samir Mondal, born in 1952, West Bengal. He studied art from Government College Arts and Crafts, Kolkota and went to Germany & France as part of INDO-FRG Cultural Exchange Programs

Samir Mondal is noted for his skill with water colours, especially in large formats and he has held demonstrations of his dexterity with large sized water colours, which are often in vibrant colours. His spontaneous use of fresh colours to create dramatic images of women, flowers and butterflies and his ability to manipulate the medium, shows amazing and descriptive possibilities. He is rated among the finest portrait painters and is a well-known cover page illustrator for many prestigious magazines.

London, The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo; Ki Gallery, Malaysia and many more all over India and abroad. He has participated in several art camps and workshops organised in India and internationally.
His works have been part of several public and private collections in India and abroad, of which few include National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi; Archaeological Museums of Karnataka, Bangalore; RPG Enterprises, Mumbai; Citi Bank, Tata Steel; Benson & Hedges, Ministry of External Affairs, Russian Consulate, Brooke Bond and several corporations, banks, private museums and many more.
He has been honoured with awards from AIFACS, New Delhi; West Bengal State Academy Award, The Academy of Fine Arts award; Andhra Pradesh Council of Artists Award, Hyderabad and West Bengal State Academy Award.
