Jayasri Burman, born in 1960, has studied at Kala Bhavan in Santiniketan and Government College of Art & Craft in Kolkota. In 1984, she studied print-making under Monsieur Ceizerzi.
She is an exponent of mythical, miniature and the modern that find place in her art practice of painted fables.
Jayasri had many solo shows and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. She has series of dedicated publications, *Mythical Universe* and *Antaryatra*. Her works have been widely been exhibited in Singapore, Hong Kong, Switzerland, London, Germany, Tokyo, New York, San Francisco and many more.
One of her prized achievements has been a series of commemorative stamps with her works by the Government of India, released on the occasion of International Women’s Day. She is a recipient of the National Award. She was invited at the President’s House as an Artist-in residence and has won prestigious awards such as ICON and Devi awards.
