JMS Mani

Born in Bangalore in 1949, he studied at the Ken School of Art, Bangalore. He has participated in numerous group shows, art camps and workshops around the country. Mani is known and easily recognized for his sense of colour and strong, fluid strokes. He does figuratives portraying the Badami people in vibrant colours and landscapes in water colours, as well as charcoal drawings andabstract works in the mediums of oils and acrylics on canvas. His dexterity with colour and form is immediately recognizable. Mani has held solo shows since1979 in India and abroad. His participation ingroup shows and art camps has been extensive, also both in India and abroad. Some shows of note are Biennale of Prints 1989-90; Saarc Exhibition, Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore (1986); Karnataka Sculpture Academy, Gallery Maya, Hong Kong (1995); “Human Form & Art”,Lalitkala Akademi, New Delhi (1998); “Ashraya”, Dubai (1999); Karnataka Lalitkala Academy Silver Jubilee Camp,1988 and hiscamp participation at Hotel Amer, Jaipur, March 2002. Mani’s works are in many private and public collections in India and abroad. JMS Mani lives and works in Bangalore, India.
