Dipali Bhattacharya

born in 1952 and graduated from the University of Calcutta in 1972. She graduated from the Govt. College of Art & Crafts, Calcutta in 1974. Between the years 1976 and 1995 she has participated in many group shows in India and abroad, which include the following, to name a few: Commonwealth Center, London (Trends in Bengal), 1986; Bedford Hill Gallery, London, 1987; Gallery 88, Kolkatta, 1989; Cymroza Art Gallery, Mumbai, 1993; Gallery Kunst in Kotten Scholingen & Berlin,1995; Jahangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, 1996; Gallery Sumukha, Bangalore, 1996,’97,’99; Calcutta Metropolitan Festival Show, 1997. Dipali has shown solo at Cymroza Art Gallery, Mumbai and Gallerie Ganesha, New Delhi; La Gallery, Dhaka, Bangla Desh; Gallery Belvedere, Singapore, between the years 1992 and 2000. Important workshops attended include Air India and Rotary Bangalore also sponsored a tour for her to London, New York and San Francisco in 1998.Dipali was guest artist at the Banga Sammelan, Atlanta, 2002.Her works, in media of oils, acrylics and tempera on canvas, water colours and drawings, most in a contemporarily figurative style, are in the collections of the Delhi College of Art,Birla Academy of Fine Arts, Guestkeen Willliams, Tatas, Godrej and in private collections in India, Germany, London, USA and Bangladesh.
