Subba Ghosh was born in 1961 in New Delhi. He studied Fine Arts at the College of Art, New Delhi, and the Surikov Institute of Fine Arts, Moscow. In 1994, he received the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi, and the Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue his education in the UK. In 1996, he completed his Masters in Fine Arts with distinction from the Slade School of Fine Art and the Slade Centre for Theoretical Studies, and soon became a graphic artist of repute. This was followed by the inclusion of video in his work, creating installations which reflected his concern with prevalent class structures and social disparities in India.
